We are a family-run business that provides structural and electrical engineering certifications that allow solar installers to receive building permits.
Using the information your provide, our engineers will review and determine if the design meets applicable standards in the location of the home in accordance with engineering principals, local building codes, and industry standards. Our team will then provide structural and/or electrical certifications for the design back to you for submittal to the AHJ and Utility.
Some of the services we provided are:
Structural Engineering Certifications & Letters
Electrical Engineering Certifications
Electrical Load Calculations and Certifications
Support for AHJ Rejections
As-Built Reviews and Certifications
QC of design plans (electrical, racking, structural, etc.)
General PV Design Support
If you need any other service not listed above, just ask! We can make it happen!
For any residential job, we require the following information:
Property Address
System design including panels, racking, inverters, etc.
Structure of house, especially how the roof is constructed, the location of the panels, and how they will be connected to the roof
Photographs of the roof framing
If you need help with getting this information, or if you would like sample submission forms, please let us know, we'll be happy to help!
We are a small family-run operation that takes our engineering and your company's reputation very seriously. Many engineering firms can stamp and approve designs, but very few have the knowledge and skills to ensure the best customer and installation experience or understand the residential PV and Battery industry, or AHJs throughout the country. We aim for 100% approval with jurisdictions, to keep your customers safe and your installation teams from having to return to jobsites. We can even work with you to help improve your designs for an easier/more cost effective installation and improved design. Our in-house engineers include both Structural and Electrical specialties to ensure we can support all your engineering services needs.
What calculations are included?
“Standards of Care” differ from region to region and jurisdiction to jurisdiction. For example, California certifications routinely require seismic calculations, whereas other areas concentrate on wind and/or snow loads. Our engineers have nationwide experience and understand regional requirements and standards. We will craft your certifications accordingly.
Do you stamp structural plans and letters?
Yes, upon review and if required by the jurisdiction, our engineer will stamp the structural plans that are included in the job-specific information. Depending on the state's requirements, hard copies are also available.
Do you stamp electrical plans?
Yes! One of our co-founders is a licensed electrical engineer and if required by the jurisdiction, will review and stamp electrical plans that are included in the job-specific information. Depending on the state's requirements, hard copies are also available.
What if calculations show the roof needs reinforcements?
We will design retrofits / reinforcements that will enable the structure to accommodate the system.
What happens if there is a rejection from the AHJ?
If you receive a plans submittal rejection from the AHJ (“Authority Having Jurisdiction”) and would like support with how to fix these issues, notify us. If the issue is something associated with any of the work we performed, we will handle the issue and work with you and the AHJ as part of our service. And if you need help resolving other AHJ rejections not associated with our certification, we are able to help work with you and the AHJ to resolve these issues.
What states do you do work in?
We do work in these states. If you have a project in a state not listed, let us know and we can work to get licensed in that state.
